Starting September 16, motorists may get their driving license for desert vehicles from the Sharjah Driving Institute.
The Sharjah Police announced on Instagram that the Sharjah Driving Institute will grant special “Sahrawi Desert Driving Permit” to authorize drivers to drive in desert terrain.
Colonel Ali Al-Bazud, Director of Licensing of Mechanics and Drivers, Chairman of the Saadat Dealers Center said that there are many tour operators that organize land trips UAE residents or tourists who want to enjoy the natural atmosphere of the desert of the Emirates.
He added that the roads could sometimes be dangerous to those who do not mastered driving there or have an incompatible vehicle.
Before drivers can get the license, they will undergo theoretical and practical training, skills test and how to deal with situations like vehicles suspended in the sand.
The move was orchestrated by the Ministry of Interior to enhance the security and safety of tourists who want to experience desert trips.
