The Overseas Filipina Worker (OFW) in the UAE who scooped Dhs1,000,000 (Php14.5 million) in the recently concluded Al Ansari Exchange Summer Promo 2018 said that she was not expecting her name to be called in the raffle since she only dropped a single entry.
The OFW said she has been trying to join the raffle for years, transacting three to five times to have multiple entries. “Ngayon isang beses lang, sinuwerte talaga ako. Di ko inexpect talaga na ako. Swertehan lang talaga,” the Filipina told The Filipino Times.
When asked what she wants to do with all the money she has won, Soriano told TFT that she would like to use the money to start her own business back home and finance the studies of her two children who are currently in senior high school.
“Kinabahan talaga ako nung unang tawag sila sa akin. Mga 2 days or 3 days akong kabado. Hindi ko ine-expect na mananalo kasi isang beses lang ako nagpadala nung nagpromo sila ngayong buwan,” Soriano told TFT.
“Sa Al Ansari, thank you very much. Lagi pa rin akong magpapadala sa inyo,” she said.
The Filipina who hails from Albay in Bicol promised her employers that she would never leave them and would like to continue working as a domestic helper for them.
Soriano came to UAE ten years ago to work as a domestic helper. Since then, she has only worked for her Syrian employer. That’s why she said it’s extra hard for her to leave them.
