A nine-year-old Asian girl was injured when she was hit by a car in Ta’awun Road in Sharjah on Monday, August 13.
According to the Central Operations Room of the Sharjah Police General Command, they received a report of the accident at 7:40 PM.
The responding team immediately brought the girl to Oriana Hospital near the site then later transferred to Al-Qassimi Hospital for further treatment.
According to Emirates Vision, the girl was accompanied by her mother when she suddenly crossed the road. The driver was unable to swerve because the girl was crossing in an undesignated place for pedestrians.
Major Abdul Rahman Khater, Director of Traffic Awareness and Traffic Branch at Sharjah Police, called on the road users to abide by the traffic rules and the of pedestrian crossings. He also reminded drivers to slow down when in the presence of children to avoid accidents.
He added that residents should educate their children on the designated places for pedestrian crossing.
