Ten Filipinos including two minor children and two infants are affected by the fuel tanker explosion near Bologna airport on Monday, August 6.
The explosion was triggered by a traffic accident and blew off the windows and doors of several apartments including the units of three Filipino families.
“We are saddened by the loss of life in the accident in Bologna and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured,” said Consul General Irene Susan B. Natividad in a statement.
The Office of Civilian Protection initially stated that at least two people died and 60 people were injured.
According to the DFA, around 20,000 Filipinos live in the Emilia Romagna Region where Bologna is located.
