The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) announced that the photo of the 10,000 Peso bill circulating online is fake.
A Facebook page called the Filipino Secret Files posted the photo claiming that it was design of the new 10,000 peso bill.
“The BSP has not produced and has not issued a 10,000-Piso NGC (New Generation Currency) banknote,” the BSP said in a statement.
The only valid banknotes in circulation are the P1,000; P500; P200; P100; P50 and P20 bills.
BSP reminded that the public to report the possession and/or forgery of the banknote to the nearest Police Station or National Bureau of Investigation.
“The forgery of Philippine banknotes as well as the use or possession of forged banknotes are punishable under the law,” added the BSP.
