In an effort to improve the transport system in the financial city of Makati, two new subways systems will be constructed soon – the Makati Subway and BGC-Makati Skytrain.
Makati Mayor Abigail Binay said that Makati Subway will have one station near Metro Manila subway so that passengers can easily transfer from one subway line to another.
Makati subway will travel the financial district of Makati with stations on Ayala Avenue, Ospital ng Makati, Circuit Mall, City Hall and Pembo.
Meanwhile, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) gave proponent Infracorp Development Inc., “original proponent status” for the P3-billion two-kilometer Skytrain monorail project that will connect Fort Bonifacio and Makati, two of the country’s busiest financial districts.
The Fort Bonifacio-Guadalupe skytrain is seen to ease commuters’ travel time to five minutes from uptown Fort Bonifacio to the MRT station in Guadalupe, Makati and vice versa.
The project will utilize automated cable-propelled monorail technology, at no cost to the government.
Around 60,000 to 100,000 passengers are expected to benefit from the train project.
Construction for the monorail is expected to begin later this year and to be completed by 2021, Proponent Infracorp Development Inc. announced.
