Two Filipina illegal recruiters were arrested in Valenzuela City on Monday, July 2, for promising 20 aspiring overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) of fake jobs in Japan.
Valenzuela Police nabbed suspects Elizabeth Mendoza and Jocelyn Madera who victimized 20 aspiring OFWs from Valenzuela, Baguio, Tarlac, and Pangasinan, reported ABS-CBN News.
The suspects asked hefty amount of money from their victims in exchange of a job in Japan.
One of the victims, Romeo Marcos, said he was promised a job in a farm in Japan with salary ranging from Php75,000 to Php80,000 monthly. His deployment, however, never happened.
The suspects denied their involvement in the illegal recruitment practice.
Mendoza and Madera were both charged with syndicated estafa.
Valenzuela police chief Senior Superintendent David Poklay reminded aspiring OFWs to take caution in dealing with recruiters.
