The overseas Filipina worker (OFW) whom President Rodrigo Duterte kissed in South Korea explained that the incident was only a ‘twist’ to stir ‘kilig’ from the audience.
The Filipina expressed in a Facebook post that the kiss did not mean anything as she is already married to a Korean national, Radyo Inquirer reported.
On June 3, Duterte kissed the unidentified Filipina during his speech before members of the Filipino community in Seoul, South Korea.
Duterte called the woman to join him onstage to receive a copy of a book titled “Altar of Secrets,” which talks about the alleged corruption in the Catholic Church, reported ABS-CBN.
Duterte said in front of a live audience that the book does not come for free and that the woman must pay for it with a kiss.
The woman then went onstage with her friend to receive the said book.
While the friend gave Duterte a ‘beso’, Duterte gestured for the other Filipina to kiss him on the lips and asked if she can tell her husband that what they were about to do was only a ‘joke’.
The crowd then roared with cheers as the President locked lips with the Filipina.
The incident was met with controversy and elicited mixed reactions from netizens.
