President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has granted pardon to 935 prisoners who had shown good conduct inside the prison.
On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, the President has ordered the release of the prisoners to give them an opportunity to start a new life.
“The release of prisoners comes within the framework of his highness the president’s keenness to give them the opportunity to start a new life and alleviate the suffering of their families,” WAM, state news agency, said in a report.
Mass prisoner releases have become a common practice by rulers in the Gulf Cooperation Council at the start of the holy month.
Similar announcements are expected from Their Highnesses Ruler’s of the UAE.
