The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will be filing a complaint against the woman who assaulted a traffic enforcer who apprehended her for not wearing a helmet while riding a motorcycle with her partner along Visayas Avenue, Quezon City.
She may face complaints such as slight physical injuries and crime against persons in authority and their agents against the woman. The offender will also be paying the P1,500 penalty for violating the No Crash Helmet Policy, reported GMA.
In the said video that went viral on Facebook over the weekend, the woman was riding a motorcycle with her partner when traffic enforcers stopped them for not wearing a helmet.
MMDA officials told the woman to wear her helmet twice but the latter refused and used it as a basket to hold the food she bought instead.
Things escalated quickly and a heated argument between the woman and the traffic enforcers arised. The former even hit and threw her helmet to the enforcers.
The MMDA also clarified that they are not the ones who uploaded the video on Facebook.
“This is not about public shaming. Sinasabi pinaglagyan ng ulam, complete disregard of the law tiniketan ka na dadaan ka pa sa harap ng mga enforcers natin para ipakita na hindi mo sinusunod ang batas,” Bong Nebrija, head of the MMDA Task Force Kapit Bisig, said.
The agency also said that they are willing to show the video in the body cam to prove that the traffic enforcer involved did not insult the woman.
“Wala pong nangyaring ganon, naka-body cam po ako… lahat naka-record, lahat ng pangyayari,” traffic constable Mandy Cabana said.
