Ice cream lovers may continue to indulge in this famous ice cream brand after the Dubai Municipality declared that it is safe for consumption.
The Municipality downplayed claims that circulated in a viral video showing mold on a Baskin Robbins product.
Dubai Municipality said the controversial video was not filmed in Dubai.
“[The Municipality] has an integrated system consisting of strict procedures to ensure control of all traded food in the emirate. The Municipality also uses the self-monitoring method on food institutions to ensure full compliance with all specifications and legislations adopted in the country,” it said in an Instagram post.
Authorities strongly discourage the practice of spreading rumors about individuals or entities, and that it can lead to real safety threats.
People spreading rumors that are “damaging social peace and public order” and cause damage to “national peace” can be prosecuted under a Federal law from 2012. Those found guilty face prison and a fine of up to Dh1 million.
Baskin Robbins is an ice cream specialty shop that operates in over 150 branches in the UAE.
