Warning to WhatsApp users: don’t click a message offering lifetime subscription of the free messaging service for 99 pence (Dh4.68).
The message is a scam, according to reports, with people from the U.K. falling victim to it.
The scam message looks like this: Your subscription has expired. To verify your account and purchase a lifetime subscription for just 0.99 GBP, simply tap on this link http://bit.ly/2qAgHnh.
But WhatsApp messaging service is free. The service initially charged 99 pence when it was launched but scrapped it later.
The link is said to be a ploy by hackers to steal the credit card details of unsuspecting victims.
To avoid getting scammed, WhatsApp users are advised to just delete the message once they receive one.
