Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) can now pay their Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) membership fee through their smartphones.

OWWA has upgraded its mobile application to allow the payment service for the biannual $25 membership fee for OFWs in countries without an OWWA office.

Department of Labor and Employment Secretary Silvestre Bello III said the application mirrors the labor department’s commitment to provide “quality services to the Filipino migrant workers”.

“Our modern-day heroes deserve more than salutations, but government initiatives to ensure their welfare while they sacrifice for their families and for the country,” Bello said during the celebration of Migrant Workers Day in Pasay City last week.

The OWWA app also allows users to check employment contract information and membership status as well as monitor payment history and member beneficiaries.

The application also provides information on OWWA services, including disability, dismemberment and death benefits, and OWWA programs such as the OFW Enterprise Development and Loan program.

The free OWWA app is available for download on Google Playstore.
