The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced the success of new mediation efforts between the Russian Federation and Ukraine, resulting in the release of 185 captives from each side.
With the latest exchange, the total number of captives released through UAE-mediated efforts has reached 7,471.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) commended both Russia and Ukraine for their cooperation with the country’s mediation initiatives, describing the UAE as a trusted international mediator and noting both sides’ appreciation for its role in supporting efforts to resolve the conflict.
The ministry said the success of the latest exchange, the 24th mediation to date, reflects the strong diplomatic relations between the UAE, Russia, and Ukraine.
It also reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to continuing its efforts to support a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine and to help reduce its humanitarian impact, particularly on refugees and captives affected by the war.
