The Social Weather Stations reported that 56% of adult Filipino sim card owners already have their numbers registered under the Sim Registration Law.
The SWS also noted that 44% of sim users have yet to register following the 90-day extension granted by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).
Based on the survey conducted last March, the most number of registration was recorded in the Visayas at 64% and lowest in Mindanao at 50%. Metro Manila scored 62% and Balance Luzon 55%.
Sim registration was also higher in urban areas (60%) than in rural areas (51%), the SWS said.
Respondents also said that registration in urban areas was easier at 75% than in rural areas at 65%.
The survey was conducted from March 26-29, 2023, using face-to-face interviews of 1,200 adults nationwide.
