Emirates Airlines has requested travellers not to bring more than 15 electronic gadgets and to carefully package them individually. The airline also travelers that police may confiscate devices that exceed the limit or are not properly packaged.
“Customers are reminded that they may not carry or check in more than 15 personal electronic devices (PED). Personal electronic items should be packaged separately, and not taped or attached to another electrical item. For safety reasons, authorities may confiscate items which are badly packaged, or if the number of items carried exceed the limit of 15 PEDs per passenger,” read the statement.
Batteries like powerbanks for portable electronic devices can only be taken to the plane through carry-on luggage. These batteries, as well as other electronic devices, should all be packaged separately to avoid short circuiting and any other untoward incidents within the plane.
The warning comes as the Christmas and the holiday season approaches, with increased air passenger traffic expected both inbound and outbound from Dubai. Thus, Emirates encourages customers to arrive three hours before their departure.
Furthermore, personal motorized vehicles such as hoverboards, mini-Segways, and smart or self-balancing wheels are not permitted on Emirates aircraft for safety concerns. It also forbids the transportation of any such gadget, with or without batteries, as checked or carry-on luggage.
Passengers may not bring drones on board as cabin luggage, although they may be accepted as checked-in baggage. Furthermore, travelers will be requested to either secure the lithium batteries within the drone or remove the batteries and transport them as cabin luggage.
