A pumpboat carrying around 15 persons capsized at Siargao. The boat ride was said to be part of the group’s Inter-Youth activity.
In a video originally posted on Dumageteno’s Facebook page on August 16, the group was heard saying the words ‘Die to Selfie’ before the boat turned over, which alarmed all passengers onboard who weren’t wearing any life vests on them.
According to other netizens, the pumpboat capsized due to overcrowding, while others noted that the boat might have lost its balance after one of the passengers switched to the opposite side of the vessel.
Passengers were seen crying for help to avoid drowning.
All passengers on board have since been rescued.
