3 dead, 61 injured due to Armenia shopping mall explosion

Several huge blasts shocked residents at Armenia after a fireworks warehouse in a shopping mall in Yerevan went up in smoke on Sunday, August 14.

The explosion killed three people and wounded 61 individuals, according to Russian news agencies.

Videos showed grey smoke rising over a structure and people fleeing the scene. As clouds of dust and smoke hovered in the air, rescue crews combed through twisted metal and wreckage in search of survivors. Bystanders assisted victims in moving to safer regions.

According to the Armenian Emergency Ministry, the body of a third victim has been found, as per reports from the Interfax News Agency. Officials had previously reported two fatalities.

Minister Armen Pambukhchyan assures that the fire had been extinguished, but high winds remained a concern. He stated that rescue crews will continue to seek for survivors.

Armenia’s Emergencies Ministry further stated that an early examination revealed that two massive explosions knocked down a portion of a building containing fireworks.
