The UAE digital government has asked that the residents and citizens must inform the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) of changes in the Emirates Identity Card within a period of 30 days.
This is to allow the FAIC to update the data in the ID card and the Population Registration System.

The UAE digital government said that this concerned Emirates ID cards issued to nationals and expatriate residents.
An Emirates ID card is mandatory and delay in getting it will incur a fine.
The residents and citizens can also update changes through the ICA website or its smart application and there are no documents required for making changes while the service fee will be AED 50.

One example for required changes on Emirates ID is if a woman gets married and choses her husband’s last name.
The residents who intend to cancel their UAE residence visa are required to hand over their ID cards to the respective General Directorate for Residency and Foreigners Affairs before leaving the country.
