Man convicted in Dubai for stealing AED 69,000 from company

The Dubai Criminal Court has convicted an Arab man for embezzling AED 69,000 from the company he worked for.

The accused works as a sales executive in a tourism and travel company where he received customer requests for reservations, hotels and flights and collected the reservation money in cash.

However, he did not deposit it into the company account.

The firm’s accountant said that he discovered that things went against the company’s instructions.

The director and owner of the company said he did not receive the cash amounts and the funds were meant to complete the visa procedures, travel tickets and arrange hotel stay for clients.

Authorities state that the accused had made reservations for many clients, and received money from them, but did not make the payment in the company’s account and admitted to the crime.

The court convicted the person of embezzlement and sentenced him in absentia and he was fined with AED 10,000 and ordered to pay back the amount of AED 69,175.
