Cotabato authorities on lookout for police officer’s attackers

The police have launched a hunt for the attackers who ambushed and seriously injured an off-duty police officer in Pikit town, Cotabato province.

The attackers were believed to be two men who rode on a motorbike.

Brig Gen Alexander Tagum, Soccsksargen police director, said patrolman Santhy Ben Marcelo Buagas, 25, of Alamada, Cotabato, was shot at by unidentified persons who tailed him on a motorbike and opened fire about 1 p.m.

The officer in civilian clothes was driving his motorbike to work and was from 12-3rd Regional Mobile Force Battalion stationed in Pikit.

Empty shells for the caliber-45 pistol were left at the ambush site after Buagas suffered bullet wounds in various parts of his body. His condition remains stable.
