The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has said the deployment ban on domestic workers to Saudi Arabia remains in place.
DOLE issued a clarification that the deployment of Filipino domestic workers to Saudi Arabia remains suspended after a fake government advisory, which says the ban on deployment to the kingdom has been lifted, circulated online.
“It is fake! There is no iota of truth to the content of that advisory. The suspension of deployment (to Saudi Arabia) remains,” said Rolly Francia, director of DOLE’s Information and Publication Service (IPS) in a statement.
Francia said the fake document dated April 4 created confusion.
The government agency has sought the help of law enforcement agencies to track down those behind the disinformation.
In November last year, the DOLE asked POEA to halt processing employment contracts of new domestic workers after complaints of abuse.
