Three Asians face three years in jail for assault, robbery in Dubai

The Dubai Court of Appeal has upheld a ruling issued by the Court of First Instance to sentence a gang of three Asians to three years in jail for assault and robbery.

The sentence will be followed by deportation on charges of assaulting a fellow man to force him to sign a cheque for AED 320,000.

In October 2021, a building guard in the International City, China Town, filed a complaint in which he stated that he saw a group of Asians forcing a blindfolded man to get into an apartment in the building.

A policeman said hat a team of detectives rushed to the scene where they found three people detaining another and took them all to the police station.

The victim stated that he received a phone call from an Asian woman requesting him to deliver stuff to someone in her home country and when he arrived in the building, the woman asked him to come to her apartment and as soon as he entered, a man hit him with a wooden stick on the head, while another shocked him with a stun gun.

Three people took him in their vehicle to a desert area and asked him to sign a bank cheque or hand AED 120,000 in cash over to them; otherwise they would kill him.
