Vaccine Czar Carlito Galvez said that getting supplies of COVID-19 vaccines in the Philippines is no longer a problem but achieving the so-called herd immunity remains to be a daunting task.
The country has so far received the biggest vaccine donation of Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines as well as Sputnik and from the COVAX facility.
Galvez also said more than 20 million doses were already delivered in October, the biggest number of vaccine supplies that arrived in the country.

“Right now supply is not anymore an issue. We have more than 38 million doses in our warehouses,” Galvez said.
Galvez however said that the challenge now is distributing the vaccine supply.
“So ngayon ang problema natin yung throughput. Ang ating sinasabi ko nga po nakikita na marami tayong nakastockpile na more or less 39 million na vaccine,” he said.

Some even take at least 7-9 days to deliver the vaccines in different areas.
“Napapansin namin yung deployment bago dumating sa vaccination site, umaabot ng 7 to 9 days. So ito po ang tinututukan namin kung paano mapapabilis ang deployment from warehouse down to administration site,” he said.
So far, the Philippine government has vaccinated over 24 million people or 31.76% of the country’s eligible population. (TDT)
