Typhoon Kiko has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) just as Severe Tropical Storm Jolina ravaged parts of the Luzon region.
Pagasa’s latest weather bulletin states that as of 10 a.m., Severe Tropical Storm Jolina has maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour (kmh) near the center, and gustiness of up to 130 km/h.
Its center was located in the vicinity of Rosario town in Batangas, said PAG-ASA.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal Number 2 is raised over Marinduque; northern and central portions of Oriental Mindoro; northern and central part of Occidental Mindoro; central and southern portion of Quezon; Batangas; Cavite; Laguna; Rizal; Metro Manila; southern portion of Bulacan; Pampanga; Bataan; Zambales; and Tarlac.

Meanwhile, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal Number 1 is raised over La Union; the southern portion of Benguet; the southern portion of Nueva Vizcaya; the southern portion of Aurora; Pangasinan; Nueva Ecija; the rest of Bulacan; the rest of Quezon including Polillo Islands; Camarines Norte; the western portion of Camarines Sur; the western portion of Romblon; the rest of Oriental Mindoro; and the rest of Occidental Mindoro.
PAG-ASA also reported that Typhoon Kiko slightly intensified and now has maximum sustained winds of 155 kmh near the center and gustiness of up to 190 kmh. It ws located 1,120 km east of Central Luzon.
“Heavy rains associated with the typhoon may begin affecting the eastern section of Northern Luzon on Friday. The public and disaster managers in these areas are advised to continue monitoring for updates and take appropriate preparatory activities,” PAG-ASA said. (NM)
