There are fewer Filipinos who practice minimum health protocols to protect themselves from COVID-19, a survey carried out by OCTA Research has pointed out.
The survey was carried out from July 12 to 18 and revealed that 89 percent of the respondents wore face masks while 85 percent regularly washed their hands with water and soap or disinfect using alcohol, 70 percent used face shields, and 64 percent observed physical distancing.

OCTA said in a statement, “ The percentage of adult Filipinos practicing either of these four measures decreased in the past month, with a face shield having the highest fall of 11 percent.”
The percentage of people undergoing regular hand washing dropped by five percent, physical distancing by three percent, and face mask use by two percent.

Also, there was a 15-percent decrease in the respondents who said they always wear face shields when going out and a 12-percent drop in respondents who said they always wear face masks when going out. The respondents who always wash their hands several times a day fell by 11 percent and those who observed physical distance of one meter by nine percent.
As per the study 80 percent of Filipinos approved of the government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic with “30 percent saying they truly approve and 50 percent saying they somewhat approve.” Only seven percent expressed disapproval and 6 percent stating that they somewhat disapproved and one percent saying they truly disapprove while 13 percent said they cannot say whether they approve or disapprove.
