PH sets another record high in COVID-19 cases with 18,332

The Philippines has set another record high in new COVID-19 cases after 18,332 new infections were reported by the Department of Health on Monday.

The total jumps to 1,857,646, of which 130,350 are active cases.

Three laboratories were not able to submit their data on time.

151 people died from the virus, increasing the death toll to 31,961. 13,794 people have recovered.

The Philippine government has detected 466 new cases of the highly contagious Delta COVID-19 variant. Most of these cases are in Metro Manila and in the Calabarzon region.

The total number of Delta COVID-19 cases now stands at 1,273.

Based on the advisory of the Department of Health one case is still active, eight patients died from the virus while 457 are tagged as recovered/

14 of the cases came from returning overseas Filipinos.

“Community transmission was identified in Region IV-A and in NCR based on the following observations: 1. Large numbers of Delta cases and 2. Case investigations and phylogenetic analysis showed that these cases cannot be epidemiologically linked to each other nor source/s of infection determined,” it said in a statement. (TDT)
