The two Filipino seafarers who tested positive for OCVID-19 from India are now in stable condition, according to the Maritime Industry Authority (Marina).
The MV Athens Bridge, which carried 21 Filipino crew members, arrived in Manila last week following a two-day port stop in India.
Twelve out of the 21 seafarers tested positive for the virus.
“Yung dalawa ay stable na sila. Yung out of dun sa dose, di ba nauna yung dalawa, okay na ‘yung dalawa,” said Marina Officer-in-Charge of the Office of the Deputy Administrator for Planning Capt. Jeffrey Solon.
Two other Filipino crewmen were rushed to the hospital due to low oxygen levels, but they are not in critical condition.
Eight of the infected seafarers are now in a quarantine facility.
Other crew members who tested negative for the virus can leave their ship on May 14.
“Yung mga papalıt sa kanila ay nasa quarantine facility at once tested na sila na negative sila, pwede na sila sumakay sa barko,” Solon said.
Last week, Marina said that the ship departed from India on April 22 and arrived in Haiphong, Vietnam, on May 1, where the 12 COVID-19 positive cases were detected.
The captain of the ship requested medical evacuation on May 6 because its members needed urgent care.
The national government assured that the patients will be monitored and health protocols will be strictly observed.
