Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Debold Sinas has approved the recommendation to relieve top Makati officials and investigators over their alleged lapses involving the case of flight attendant Christine Dacera.
Makati PNP Chief of Police Col. Harold Depositar, Southern Police District (SPD) Medico legal chief Major Sarmiento, and two Makati PNP investigators will be sacked from their posts.
The PNP says that the relief order will be implemented by National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Brig. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr., the immediate superior of the police officers.
Danao added that the relief of Makati police chief Depositar and three others will depend on the result of the preliminary investigation at the Makati Prosecutors’ Office.
Dacera’s family filed a case against Sarmiento for allegedly directing the embalming of her body and conducting a medicolegal examination on her even without their consent.
The Makati City police earlier filed a complaint of rape with homicide against 11 people it believed were responsible for the death of Dacera.
The Makati Prosecutor’s Office, however, ordered their release since there is not enough basis on the rape slay case and that the death needs further investigation.
Dacera was found lifeless in a Makati hotel on New Year’s day after partying with her friends.
She was declared dead on arrival at the Makati Medical Center with her first autopsy showing that she died from an aneurysm. (TDT)
