The lawyer of the five respondents on the case of flight attendant Christine Dacera said that the Makati Police had pressured her clients to admit the angle of illegal drugs during their investigation.
“The powder issue insinuating drug use actually came from the mouths of PNP Makati police,” lawyer Abby Portugal said in a statement.
The respondents filed a joint counter-affidavit to retract use of drugs the night Dacera died.
Portugal claims two of her clients were subjected to mental torture and misrepresentations “that they will be released from detention and no charges will be filed.”
On Wednesday, the Makati prosecutor’s office began its preliminary investigation into the death of the flight attendant. Dacera was found lifeless in at a Makati hotel on New Year’s day.
The PNP also submitted a supplemental complaint. The police however said that no results submitted yet on the DNA analysis, toxicology, histopath, and lab results from Makati Medical Center.
The next hearing is set on January 27. (TDT)
