Three young Gulf nationals will pay fines of AED 15,000 (AED 5,000 each) to a young Arab woman who they insulted and harassed in public.
The Ras Al Khaimah Misdemeanor Court found out that the three men blocked the woman’s way on a public road and verbally abused her.
“One of them got his head out of the car, and shouted bad words at me,” said the woman, as per reports from Khaleej Times.
The woman lodged a complaint to the Ras Al Khaimah Police against the trio. The three men were arrested and referred to the Public Prosecution.
Two of the defendants challenged the verdict of the lower court at the RAK Misdemeanor Court of Appeals, the other defendant did not challenge the verdict as he was not notified of the fines.
The woman earlier requested for AED 50,000 as compensation for abusing her in public.
The Civil Court has suspended the case, stating that the ruling of the punitive courts is not conclusive, pointing out that one of the defendants was not notified of the verdict.
