Feel the winter chill in UAE’s budget-friendly destinations

Filipinos in the UAE look forward to explore the hidden gems of the seven emirates

The launch of the 45-day tourism campaign “World’s Coolest Winter” by the UAE government has ushered in much excitement for almost a million Filipinos in the country.

This would mean a budget-friendly yet thrilling experience to visit the hidden gems across the emirates, and travellers need not look away from home.

On a chilly Friday morning in the UAE when His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, took a trip to the majestic mountains of the Hatta region on his bicycle to promote the beauty of one of Dubai’s hidden gems.

“Tourism in the homeland is a support for the people of the homeland, and exploring the homeland is an exploration of identity, its roots, and ancestors. My tourism is in my country. My country is the most beautiful. My country is the sweetest. My country has the warmest feeling. May God protect my country, the Emirates,” said His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid.

Fusing culture with modern entertainment

The campaign of the ‘World’s Coolest Winter’ has drawn international attention with the likes of American actor and host Steve Harvey and travel vlogger Nuseir Yassin, known for his vlog ‘Nas Daily’. The two have collaborated in a docuseries that highlights various activities in the UAE that everyone can enjoy, with safety precautions in mind to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

“I have been in The Emirates several times, and it’s one of my favorite places in the world. The Emirates brings together so many diverse elements; it’s like experiencing the entire globe in one place. Very few places in the world provide that experience that combines a rich local cultural with a unique universality,” said Harvey.

Experience the emirates

Travel & tourism forms a huge part of the UAE’s growth map – which is why the entire country reveled in the recent announcement of the vaccine approval that has provided increased confidence and optimism among residents to travel while still practicing all health guidelines.

Abu Dhabi, for instance, is set to reopen all tourism and entertainment activities as it has been proactively providing residents and tourists with affordable yet enriching travel destinations in the form of world-class museums, theme parks, and other leisure activities while keeping true to its commitment for mass testing with a notable low percentage of COVID-19 cases to date compared to the rest of the emirates.

Meanwhile, travelers visiting Dubai via an Emirates airline flight can get a luxurious complimentary stay at the JW Marriott Marquis – a campaign made possible with the partnership of the airline and the the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism). All passengers can now avail of a stay at one of Dubai’s premier hotels that’s just a short trip away from the Dubai Mall. Economy passengers get to stay for one night, while those in the First and Business Class seats can get a two-night stay in a campaign that is valid till February 28, 2021.

Healthcare workers can also get to enjoy local travel destinations free of charge, courtesy of the recently-launched Frontline Heroes Office program. The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has provided free access for the nation’s frontline heroes together with three of their guests at the UAE’s museums such as the Louvre Abu Dhabi and Qasr Al Hosn.

“To thank them for their dedication, it is our pleasure to offer complimentary access to two of DCT Abu Dhabi’s most spectacular cultural assets, a way of encouraging them to take some time to reflect, recharge, and reconnect with their creative sides. As these professionals have healed and protected so many in our community, may the treasures contained within Louvre Abu Dhabi and Qasr Al Hosn comfort and replenish them in turn,” said Saood Al Hosani, Acting Undersecretary of DCT Abu Dhabi.
