Internationally renowned Filipino fashion designer and 2015 The Filipino Times Rizal Awardee and Fashion Designer of the Year Michael Cinco has showcased a marvelous display of gowns and wardrobe inspired by the popular tale of ‘Swan Lake’ at the recently held Fashion Forward Dubai.
Cinco’s collection, aptly named as ‘The Impalpable Dream of SWAN LAKE’ is a fulfillment of the fashion designer’s dream to create designs based on his favorite popular folk tale that he truly adored.
“I was inspired by my favorite ballet Russian ballet SWAN LAKE . A Russian- German folk tale and tells the story of Odette, a princess turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer’s curse and falls in love to a handsome Prince,” shares Cinco in an exclusive interview with The Filipino Times.
Intricate details
Cinco shares that each gown was made with the intention of embodying the folk tale through carefully crafted designs that puts the story to life on the runway.
“I used a lot of tulle and organza in the collection. Details are more sophisticated on the wings of a beautiful swan interpreted in a couture way. I did a lot of intricate and exquisite embroideries on jackets and skirts,” said Cinco.
He likewise shared that his dream collection took him and his team thousands of hours as they put in their whole-hearted effort to show to the world the beauty behind the story of ‘Swan Lake’: “Most embroideries and beadworks are all hand-made by skilled artisans’ hands and took thousand of hours to produce. It takes me a lot of time, passion and love to create the entire collection.”
