Four young Filipino students shone at the big stage following a series of 5-minute speeches on various topics during the Extemporaneous Speech competition held last April 27, during the second day of the Philippine Property and Investment Exhibition.
Four schools participated in the roadshow including Al Alfiah Filipino Private School, Far Eastern Private School / Branch, New Filipino Private School, and The Philippine School Dubai. Topics discussed by a total of 12 students included their pieces on parents not relying on their kids as future investments, the value of teaching investing at a young age, as well as their thoughts on the lack of money being the root of problems in today’s age.
Winning in first place was Cria Axerel Jarin of The Philippine School, Dubai for her piece on money that moved the audiences with her thought-provoking content coupled with her powerful delivery of emotions. In second place was Dorothy Yao from The Philippine School, Dubai followed by Al Alfiah Filipino Private School’s Lyra Cortuna in 3rd place. Far Eastern Private School / Branch’s Maica Suan secured 4th place.
The event is part of the roadshow of the upcoming Interschool Debate, led by The Filipino Times in partnership with The Philippine Consulate General for Dubai and the Northern Emirates to be held this coming May 3 at the Skyline University College at Sharjah with LBC and PANDORA as a proud sponsors of the inaugural event.
Apart from the four aforementioned schools, the Far Eastern Private School as well as the United International Private School of Dubai will also be participating in the actual debate.
