Pinoy couple avoided splurging on dates to buy this expensive house

When Kor Garces decided to greet her boyfriend Ken Romarate on Facebook in time for their fourth year anniversary, she had no idea that it would inspire a lot of couples.

The yellow-painted house in their background has caught the attention of many netizens.

“Very nice interiors! Ganito rin dream house ko kaso wala pa kong forever,” said a Facebook user. Netizens were quick to tag their partners and tell them to follow the couples’ steps.

The couple’s dream home includes a dolled-up bedroom for Kor, complete with a vanity dresser and canopy bed.

But what amazed many netizens is that Kor and Ken started to save for this dream house even if they have yet to put a ring on it.

Before they were able to have their dream house, Kor had some modeling stints and joined beauty pageants while Ken worked as a registered nurse. Eventually, they were able to put up a small business that grew into a shop in a mall in Cagayan de Oro.

“Ako yung nagsimula and then soon naging business partners na kami ni Ken nung afford na niya ang puhunan,” Kor told The Filipino Times.

How they did it was not easy, shared Kor. Her boyfriend worked two jobs and she handled their finances. She labelled herself as the visionary and her boyfriend as the manpower.

“Aside from the business, meron din home-based work si fiancée. Basically, tulungan po kaming dalawa.”

The couple also avoided splurging on dates and focused more on being together.

“We knew that we were madly in love with each other. I think that was the only thing that mattered to us,” Kor said.

The rockiest part of their relationship was the beginning but even before they became a couple, Kor admitted that she prayed for a man like Ken.

“Pinakamahirap na part sa simula kasi si Ken nagwowork pa sya nun as a nurse and earning less than 8k at nag 2nd job as medical biller online,” she said to TFT.

But considering her boyfriend as a blessing, she did not give up and adjusted to understand her partner.

“Kumbaga we helped each other grow as individuals and while in the process, yun din ang naging key para mas lalong lumalim ang relationship namin,” she said

“When it was only me, I’d just dream in a corner. When it was only you, you’d just hustle in a corner. When we were together, we were indestructible,” she added.

As Kor shared their love story, she did not forget to thank her now-fiancée, Ken: “I had to take a leap of faith- and you did not hesitate to jump with me. Wherever I go, you would go. It was a gamble, but we held on tight.”

“We are truly overwhelmed and amazed na maraming na inspire sa house goals namin,” her post read.

Their decision was hatched out of their individual desires to prove their relationship to their parents.

Kor said that what matters most is that both should work towards the common goal:

“Lagi niyong iintindihin ang isa’t isa and instead of pressuring the other, help and support each other.”
