TikTok speaks up on Jam Magno ban: We reserve the right to take action vs. Community Guidelines violators

After banning the account of social media personality Jam Magno, TikTok said it has the right to take requisite action against those who repeatedly violate its Community Guidelines.

Magno, a staunch supporter of the administration, was banned on the social media platform after mocking Rabiya Mateo for failing to take home the Miss Universe crown.

It was not the first time Magno has lashed out at Mateo. She had launched an attack on her on social media since last February for the beauty queen’s response to President Rodrigo Duterte’s statement saying that women were not fit to be leaders

Prior to her ban, Magno posted a video on Tiktok saying “Good morning, Philippines! Good morning, universe. How are we today? Are your bets in the top 10 or top 5?”

In a statement sent to Rappler, TikTok said: “TikTok reserves the right to take action against any content or user that violates our Community Guidelines. The Community Guidelines helps TikTok prioritize safety, diversity, inclusion, and authenticity, thus ensuring not only the safety of the community, but also to foster kindness within the platform.”

Further, it said: “We will suspend or ban accounts and/or devices that are involved in severe or repeated violations and will consider information available on other platforms and offline in these decisions but do not disclose it publicly.”

Magno, on the other hand, remained unfazed with the ban saying: “Let me remind you that being banned on Tiktok is NOT new to me and I came back from it before,” she said.
