Moira Dela Torre’s song cover of ‘You Are My Sunshine’ was featured in a heartbreaking drug ad for a school contest in the United States.
The video titled as ‘Sunshine’ featured a video showing the devastating effects of illegal drugs which will have impact to young people’s lives. It also showed how a mother lost her daughter through drug overdose.
“Drugs take away your sunshine,” the video said.
California’s El Modena High School made the video for a contest organized by Elks which is the largest volunteer drug awareness in the US.
It was named last August as the “Best High School Video Public Service Announcement.”
It was then used by the US government in a collaboration video with popular YouTube channel, FBE, which featured recovering addicts opening up about their inspiring stories.
Dela Torre’s cover of “You Are My Sunshine,” was originally sung by Johnny Cash.
Dela Torre’s cover was the original soundtrack of the movie, “Meet Me in St. Gallen”.
