Pop superstar Sarah Geronimo has earned praises over her acting as a mentally challenged woman in the film ‘Unforgettable’.
The Autism Society of the Philippines said that Sarah made an effective portrayal of her role as ‘Jasmine’.
The Autism Society Philippines calls Sarah’s newest project a ‘wonderful job’.
“Unforgettable” is a story of a young neurodiverse woman’s determined journey. It is a positive portrayal of a person on the spectrum — without the tired exaggerations and stereotypes. It portrayed the condition in the context of Filipino family life; and gave the character dignity and enviable fortitude, “ the organization said in a statement.
“Sarah Geronimo did a wonderful job! She captured their unwavering loyalty, singularity of purpose and the depths of their distress! She met with young adults on the spectrum in preparing for her role. Teacher Cecile Sicam, co-founder of the Autism Society Philippines, served as a consultant during filming,” the group added on their Facebook page.
The organization also thanked the film directors and producers for coming up with a film which they can consider as a ‘gift to the autism community’.
