A new Netflix show is featuring the perilous plight of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Western cruise ships.
In the latest episode of Hasan Minhaj’s Patriotic Act, the comedian digs deeper on the real cost of working in Western cruises.
Minhaj explained the dark realities behind the fun and luxury of the cruise ship industry.
“Cruises are the fastest growing travel sector in the United States, with 20 million people setting sail annually. On the latest Patriot Act, Hasan probes into what cruise lines like Royal Caribbean and Carnival don’t advertise: the way they exploit workers, skimp on safety, and sweep crime under the rug,” the episode’s description.
Minjah tried to expose terrible working conditions, water pollution and questionable national and international laws that benefit employers over workers.
The episode has become available since August 26.
