DJ Jasmin of MOR 101.9 dies at 35

Avid Filipino radio fans know DJ Jasmin or Jasmin Basar in real life because of her daily noontime programs that give love tips to those who may need it.

But after months of battling a chronic kidney disease, MOR 101.9 has announced DJ Jasmin’s passing. She was 35 years old.

DJ Jasmin revealed to her listeners about her tough battle with kidney disease early last year. She began undergoing dialysis this year.

“Bakit ako? Sa dinadami ng tao sa mundo na masasama, why me? Gano’n ka ba kabilib sa akin, Lord, sa powers ko, at iyon agad ang binigay mong pagsubok, agad-agad? I always put in mind, everything will be alright in the end, that I will be able to get back to my old life, and make it a better one,” Jasmin told Rated K.

There were times when Jasmin was too sick to go to the office that is why she will do her job or passion at home.

A family bread winner. DJ Jasmin is survived by her parents and four siblings.

Radio personalities and Jasmin’s colleagues remember her upon learning about her death.

“I-hello mo ko kay Lord diyan. See you soon, DJ Jasmin. Lord tulungan mo po kaming mga naiwan ni Jasmin lalo na ang pamilya at malalapit na kaibigan niya makayanan ito,” DJ Cha Cha shared on her Facebook account.

“Baby girl Jasmin Balong, Jr, the Turd. Mami-miss kita Manang Jasmin ko. Kwentuhan, asaran, payuhan na pang sating 2 lang. Tunay kang kaibigan Jasmin. Magpahinga ka na,” DJ Popoy, Jasmin’s co-host on the radio program ‘Dear MOR’.
