Catriona Gray breaks her silence, calls ‘body shaming’ hurtful

Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray finally broke her silence and slams body-shaming on Twitter.

This comes after a Thai beauty queen compared her photo to a Miss Grand International winner with a caption calling her fat.

“Body-shaming is hurtful and (should) never be tolerated. If anyone reading this too has been body-shamed, I know how it feels. I’m sorry you’ve had to experience that. But know that you are more than your appearance,” Gray said in a post.

Gray reiterated her stance against bullying and fat-shaming.

“Obviously I stand firmly against any form of bullying and bashing – online and off. It is never, ever okay to put someone down for the sake of “expressing your opinion”. With words come power and we should be using those words to build someone up and not pull them down,” she explained.

Gray’s fellow beauty queens rallied behind her.

“There were always be people who will try to judge you from the outside but what they say won’t matter. Cat knows who she is so I’m pretty much confident she was not hurt about it,” Binibining Pilipinas Universe 2019 Gazini Ganados said in an interview.
