Anne Curtis will be taking a challenging role as a transman in the upcoming episode and part of the hit drama anthology, Maala ala Mo Kaya’s 28th anniversary presentation.
Curtis portrayed the role of LGBT advocate, Marzz Balaoro, who has been pushing for equality since he was young.
“When I was younger, my parents could not even impose on me to wear dresses and skirts, not until I went to a private Catholic (girls’) school I wore shorts under my skirt, and I wore a t-shirt under my long-sleeves, and I took off everything on my way out of the school campus,” Balaoro, originally from Abra, told Rappler in an interview.
Balaoro is an OFW in Hong Kong and became a pastor in 2013. He established an LGBT church in the area to give safe haven to Hong Kong OFWs.
“I think it is my role, it is my duty, not only to the LGBT community but to all people out there (to say) that we exist and there’s nothing wrong with us.” (AFP photo)
