Being the child of celebrity doctors Vicki Belo and Hayden Kho, it is public knowledge that Scarlet Snow Belo is living a life of luxury.
However, many netizens couldn’t help but voice out their concern, saying that someone as young as Scarlet Snow, who is currently 4 years old, should not be spoiled with luxury items, such as clothing by Gucci.
It all started when a video was released over the weekend wherein Scarlet Snow showed off her Gucci dress and bag to her 3.1 million online followers.
At one point of the clip. Vicki was heard asking her daughter, “What’s your outfit for today?”
“Gucci,” Scarlet Snow answered.
As seen in the video, Scarlet Snow was wearing a Gucci embroidered sequin snake tulle dress which is currently sold at around P27,000.
She was also using a GG supreme red bow tote bag which costs around P20,000.
While many found the short video adorable, there were some who said it was too early for Scarlet Snow to be brand-conscious and flaunt her luxury items.
“This is too much for a little girl,” an Instagram user quipped.
Because of the mixed bag of reactions that the video got, Hayden decided to join the conversation and defend his daughter.
Hayden said people should not make a big deal out of the items that his daughter own. He also clarified that the bag and dress in the video were presents from her aunt.
“Here’s what I think: I think it’s important that we don’t make a big deal about brands. One’s identity is not anchored on the brand of clothing he/she wears. Meaning, whether you wear an expensive brand or cheap brand, or you see someone wear expensive brands or cheap brands, drop the attachment to it. That says nothing about their true identity and significance. They’re both clothes and nothing else,” he said.
“In the case of Scarlet, to be honest, we rarely buy her clothes. She has generous fans on IG who send her clothes which we then post to thank them. The dress and bag she’s wearing here is from her tita [Alice Eduardo] which we also posted to thank her. Let those who have ears hear,” he added.
Many netizens agreed with Hayden saying they do not need to explain themselves and the luxury items that they own because they work hard for it.
“People be hating all the time. Get your own branded stuff or unfollow, or get a life,” one commented.
