After Catriona Gray brought home the Philippine’s fourth Miss Universe crown, another Filipina beauty queen brought pride to the country after finishing in the Top 5 of the Miss Tourism International 2018 held in Malaysia last Friday, December 21.
Mutya ng Pilipinas-Tourism International Aya Fernandez placed in the Top 5 and was named “Dream Girl of the Year International”. She, however, failed to win a back-to-back for the Philippines after the crown and title was given to Indonesia’s Astari Vernideani.
Miss Tourism International 2017 Jannie Alipo from the Philippines passed the crown to her successor at the end of the event.
Other winners include Kenya’s Sarah Pkyach who was named “Miss Tourism Metropolitan International,” Australia’s Sandra Callahan won “Miss Tourism Global,” and Latvia’s Laura Scuchare who won “Miss Tourism Cosmopolitan International.”
Miss Malaysia whose country hosted the pageant received a special award called “Miss Southeast Asia Tourism Ambassadress”.
After the pageant, Fernandez took to Instagram thank her supporters.
