A photo depicting Miss Earth Lebanon 2018 Salwa Akar with another Miss Earth candidate—whose country is in conflict with the former—surfaced online that resulted to her title’s revokement.
On Twitter, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Arabic-language spokesman Ofir Gendelman condemned the ‘selfie’ act and announced the stripping of her title.

Meanwhile, Akar responded through a Facebook post that she does not need a title to be herself. “I will finish what I started with or without your support and love. God is always beside me, he knows me more than anyone and he knows what’s in my heart,” she further stated.
The photo of the two candidates, according to Philstar, was taken in the Philippines where the Miss Earth coronation will be held this November 3.
