Actress and comedienne Pokwang drew a lot of laughter online after she showed off her “most expensive jewelry”, which is a necklace made of red chili peppers.
Pokwang poked fun at the increasing prices of basic commodities due to the rising inflation rate in the Philippines, which caused red chili peppers to skyrocket to as much as P1,000 per kilo.
The comedienne uploaded a video on her Instagram account wherein she proudly showed off her necklace that will put diamonds, emeralds, rubies, and other expensive stones to shame.
“Zia, Zia, akin na yung pinakamamahalin kong alahas, yung [mas] mahal pa sa diamond,” Pokwang said at the beginning of the video while having her makeup done.
Her assistant then approached her with the red chili pepper necklace and Pokwang immediately instructed her to put it around her neck.
“Dali na suot niyo na. Hello, anong sinabe ng diamonds? Ganda diba?” she said as she flaunts her “expensive” jewelry.
“Ang bongga, ang sosyal! Magkano kaya isa niyan?” someone asked in the background, to which Pokwang replied, “Mahal yan!”
Aside from Pokwang, many Filipino netizens have also been posting and sharing photos on social media showing red chili peppers as the new symbol of wealth because of its rising retail value.
