GMA-7’s now-defunct weekly noontime variety show “SOP” might have ended eight years ago, but Filipino viewers will forever remember the iconic performances that the Kapuso singers staged on the show.
One of which is the program’s “Back-to-Back-to-Back”, wherein singers Regine Velasquez, Jaya, Lani Misalucha, Ogie Alcasid, and Janno Gibbs used to perform together to showcase their vocal ability and versatility.
Velasquez and Misalucha are the only ones who are still with the Kapuso network and most of their colleagues have already transferred to rival station, ABS-CBN.
Nevertheless, fans who anticipated their weekly powerful performance asked about the possibility for them to reunite and perform just like they did during their “Back-to-Back-to-Back” days.
Speaking about their fans’ request, PEP.ph quoted Velasquez as saying in jest, “You’ll never know kasi iniwan na nila tayong lahat, nasa Channel 2 na sila, mga bastos sila. Lalo na ‘yung asawa ko [Ogie Alcasid], nuknukan ng bastos, in real life, huh.”
Alcasid currently appears on several ABS-CBN shows such as “Home Sweetie Home”, “It’s Showtime”, and “Your Face Sounds Familiar”, while Jaya is a judge on “Tawag Ng Tanghalan”.
Meanwhile, Velasquez and Misalucha are working together on GMA-7’s new singing competition, “The Clash”.
Misalucha said that she is open to the idea of a reunion, saying, “Ako rin, gusto ko rin naman na mangyari ‘yon, you know, with Janno, Jaya, Ogie, Regine, Cacai [Bautista]. Sana kung mangyayari ‘yon, hindi naman sana ‘yung matagal na matagal na bago mangyari. Ayaw ko namang mapanood ng mga tao na uugod-ugod na tayo bago mangyari ‘yun.”
