WATCH: “Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids” recreates iconic DoReMi trio

Nineties kids may remember singing along to the theme of the hit movie DoReMi, but fans will have a major throwback after seeing Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids episode last Saturday, July 14.

Contestants Francis Concepcion, Mackie Empuerto, and Kiefer Sanchez dressed up as Donna Cruz, Regine Velasquez, and Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski and attempted their version of the movie’s theme song, I Can.

The group was formed after the three joined Tawag ng Tanghalan separately. Sanchez landed second place, followed by Empuerto in third, and Concepcion in fifth place.

Their video is trending on YouTube, hitting 460,000 views within one day of uploading.

The trio was teary-eyed as they went for a group-hug after their performance. They were asked to read letters they had written earlier for each other.

Mackie apologized that as a brother-figure, he may have had lapses in teaching Francis. Kiefer also said sorry for being stubborn and sensitive while Francis apologized for being rowdy.

The three are grateful for each other’s friendship and as host Billy Crawford compared them to DoReMi, they have become a trio not only in singing but also in friendship

Doremi hit the cinemas 22 years ago but the audience and judges were all too touched by the TNT boys’ rendition.

“I really cried because of all the numbers they performed, this is very tame with low energy but this is the one you really felt so those emotions were extended to us.” said judge Sharon Cuneta.
