WATCH: Filipino duo wows Mariah Carey

A Filipino duo has caught the attention of none other than American diva Mariah Carey.

Carey was the latest artist to be featured on Glamour Magazine’s YouTube series titled “You Sang My Song”, where famous international singers would watch videos of their fans singing their songs.

One of the videos presented to Carey was that of Filipino singer Aldrich Talonding and his cousin James Bucong, who amazed Carey with their acoustic rendition of her hit “Hero”.

“This kid is amazing,” Carey said after hearing Talonding’s voice.

“It’s interesting because when I first wrote ‘Hero,’ I wasn’t even writing it for myself. There is something special about it, especially when you see such a wide range of people doing the song — different ages, different places in the world. It’s really a nice feeling as a songwriter,” she added.

The world-renowned songstress went on to say that Talonding and Bucong’s version of her song is “amazing” and that she loved their rendition.

Talonding and Bucong’s video was originally uploaded on YouTube back in 2014.

Carey likewise reacted to other singers and instrumentalists who covered her number one songs such as “Always Be My Baby,” “We Belong Together,” “Touch My Body,” “Heartbreaker,” and “My All.”

Mariah Carey is a multi-platinum international singer-songwriter who is also dubbed as the best-selling artist of all time after selling 250 million records worldwide since her debut in 1990. Carey is known for her 5-octave vocal range and her whistle register. She is considered an icon in the music industry after earning 5 Grammy Awards, 18 Billboard Number 1 songs, the most by any solo artist in history, and the longest-running number one song, among many other achievements.

On the other hand, Talonding and Bucong have been previously featured on the Ellen DeGeneres Show after their cover version of Luther Vandross’ “Dance With My Father” went viral online.

The esteemed TV host invited the two to her show and in 2013, Talonding and Bucong, who hail from General Santos City, flew to the US to appear and perform on Ellen.
