Martin Nievera returned to the Philippines for the birthday of President Rodrigo Duterte amid grief over the death of his father.
Martin flew back home to his home country to shoot ABS-CBN’s Summer Station ID and to perform in the upcoming birthday of President Duterte.
An article on PEP said that Martin arrived to the Philippines last Monday and will sing with Lani Misalucha and Zsa Zsa Padilla in the president’s birthday celebration on April 5.
Immediately after the president’s birthday, Martin will fly to the US for the cremation of his father, singer Roberto Jose “Bert” dela Cruz Nievera.
Martin confirmed the death of his father on an Instagram last March 27.
Before his death, Bert was a veteran singer residing in Las Vegas, USA. He entered the show business after winning the “Search For Johnny Mathis of The Philippines” in the noontime show na “Student Canteen”.
During the 1960s, he came the lead vocalist of the pop group Society of Seven, aka The Fabulous Echoes.
Bert has also released a series of studio albums during the 70s and 80s, including “Nievera”, “Sumasainyo, Nievera”, and “Remembers”.
